3 Steps to Safety > Step 3
Stay Alert
Stay up to date
A new crib, highchair or other product that you buy today could be
recalled tomorrow. This is why it is so important to stay up-to-date
on product recalls and safety.
There are three easy ways to stay up-to-date on recalled products:
- Automatic recall notification
Be notified automatically every time a baby product is recalled.
To sign up call the CPSC at 800-638-CPSC and ask to be put on its
mailing list, or sign up by clicking
here
- Kids In Danger's monthly email alert
Receive a monthly email alert that includes information on
children's product safety, and a list of children's products recalled that month.
Sign up by clicking here.
- Fill out product registration cards
When available, fill out your name and address on registration cards that come
with new products so that the manufacturer can contact you directly in the
event of a product recall.
Report bad products
You are not alone if you have had a bad experience with a children's product.
Often it is not an accident, but a product flaw. The best way to ensure that
it doesn't happen again is to report any incidents or other problems to the
product manufacturer and to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
These reports help them investigate products for safety hazards. Click
here to report a dangerous product.
Spread the word
The more people who know about recalled products, the more injuries
will be avoided and the more lives saved. Help us spread the word!
Contact your family and
friends and warn them about the dangers of juvenile products.
Download KID brochures
and pass them out to parents, grandparents, or caregivers . . . anybody you know
who cares for young children.
Write your legislators
and urge them to make children's product safety a priority.
Download KID posters and hang them in your child's childcare
center, school, or pediatrician's office.
