Did you know that you can check for unsafe, recalled products by accessing KidsInDanger.org from your smartphone? 3 years ago this week, KID teamed up with WeMakeitSafer and TableXI to develop this site which makes it easier for parents and caregivers to shop smart for their kids.
The site is easy to use; just type in the name or manufacturer of the product in the search bar at the top of the page. You can even just type in a product category such as ‘strollers’ to see all stroller recalls. In addition to recall searches, the site lists the most current children’s products recalled, latest safety news, as well as access to KID’s full site. And you can sign up for monthly KID email alerts.
The intention behind the site was to make it easier for parents and caregivers to have recall information at their fingertips before they purchase a product for the children in their care. This is especially important because research shows only a small percentage (10%) of recalls are ever repaired or returned to the manufacturers; leaving the vast majority of recalled products out in stores, online, and in homes.
The KID mobile app is another resource for parents and caregivers to use to keep their kids safe. Sign up for monthly email alerts to have a list of the months recalled products delivered to your inbox monthly. Learn more about WeMakeitSafer here.
