Each year, KID commemorates our progress, honors the memory of Danny Keysar and other victims of unsafe children’s products and highlights the contributions of child safety champions at KID’s Best Friend Award (BFA) Night. The funds raised at this event allow us to continue our valuable outreach and provide a strong voice for safety.

Join us on Wednesday, September 29 from 6-8pm CT for a fireside chat with 2021 BFA honoree Dr. Erin Mannen, honored for her groundbreaking infant sleep research that has led to policy changes and has saved lives.

Dr. Erin Mannen

Dr. Mannen is an Assistant Professor and serves as the Director of the Boise Applied Biomechanics of Infants (BABI) Lab in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University in Idaho. She was hired by the CPSC to conduct a study on the safety of inclined sleepers, and her research showed that inclined sleepers are scientifically unsafe for infant sleep. Her study led the CPSC to pass an infant sleep product rule that would essentially ban inclined sleepers from being made and led the U.S. House to pass a bill that would ban the products.
