KID Honors Founders with Best Friend Award at Annual Gala

Who: Kids In Danger (KID), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children by fighting for children’s product safety.

What: The Best Friend Award. We are proud to be honoring our co-founders, Linda Ginzel and Boaz Keysar during our 20th anniversary year. Linda and Boaz founded KID after discovering that the death of their son Danny in a recalled portable crib was not an accident but the result of a flawed system. Devastated by the loss of their son and the injustice of the recall system, Linda and Boaz mobilized their grief into action. They founded KID in an effort to improve recall effectiveness and educate other parents about the dangers of unsafe children’s products. For almost 20 years KID has been dedicated to protecting children by fighting for product safety.

Why: KID’s annual Best Friend Award celebrates those who are leaders in fighting for children’s product safety.

We will celebrate with tasting plates from some of Chicago’s favorite restaurants, a live auction, and a chance to see the timeline of KID’s 20 years. NBC’s Lisa Parker will welcome guests at 6:35. The program will begin at 7:15pm, when we will honor Linda and Boaz and also hear a few words from Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Marla Felcher, KID’s first honoree for her groundbreaking book, It’s No Accident: How Corporations Sell Dangerous Children’s Products. Past Best Friend Award honorees and representatives from our sponsors will also be in attendance. The event will conclude at 9pm.
