Ever wonder what goes on duirng a typicaly week at KID? Read on for your chance to find out
On the road
KID ED Nancy Cowles traveled to Bethesda, MD this week to facilitate a strategic planning session for the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO). KID represents consumers in this organization and supports its mission to provide a forum for new ideas and information about product safety. We’ll also be participating at their annual symposium the end of the month. We’d love to have more consumer and parent advocates join us.
Out in the community
On Tuesday, KID Program Director Laura participated in the BP Wellness fair in downtown Chicago. Many large corporations hold these fairs in an effort to bring valuable community resources (such as KID) to their employees. If this is something your workplace does, consider inviting KID to the next event.
That same day, KID intern Jordan met with Alderman Balcer and SIDS of Illinois for a follow up discussion on the city of Chicago ordinance banning the sale of crib bumper pads.
On Saturday KID will participate in the “Maybe Baby?” event at Rush Hospital in Chicago, IL. This event draws new and expecting parents from all over Chicagoland and connects them with health experts from around the area. If you are planning to start or expand your family, be sure to stop by.
In the office
Despite the nasty Chicago winter weather, KID volunteers and interns have continued to come in and help KID prepare for our next big event, The Best Friend Award Night. They have also assisted with administrative tasks and our programming efforts. Volunteering with KID is flexible and fun, consider joining our team today.
