Join us for the 1st Annual Project Safe Child Walk-a-Thon!
When & Where: Sunday, June 26th, at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford, New York.
This walk will raise awareness about the new federal standards for child product safety and raise funds for Kids in Danger. Due to the relentless efforts of parent advocates, Kids In Danger and other consumer organizations, public officials, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), June 26th marks the week when the world’s TOUGHEST safety standards on cribs take effect. The Walkathon is hosted by parents who tragically lost their children in cribs with drop sides. With the new standard, these dangerous cribs will be banned from the marketplace and babies will be safer than ever before. They have chosen to mark this historic day with a gathering that will raise additional funds to keep children safe.
Event day registration begins at 9 AM, the Kids In Danger (KID) Walk-a-Thon will begin at 10 a.m. We’ll have public officials and other speakers at 10:00 before the walk starts along with refreshments at noon. NY Legislator Wayne Horsley is scheduled to speak along with parents who have lost children to unsafe cribs. Others have been invited.
Registration for this event is free with a minimum pledge goal of $50 per participant. All walk participants who raise $75 or more in pledges will receive a Goody Bag with great stuff from supportive businesses and event sponsors. Refreshments will be served at noon.
